Storm response happens in two stages
Storm damage is different from other losses because the emergency and the repair are separated in time. The first job is to stop the building from taking on more damage, often in the dark, in wind and rain, sometimes with no power. The rebuild comes later, once the weather has passed and the scope is clear.
Stage one: securing the property
Emergency board-up closes broken windows and openings against weather and entry. Roof tarping covers areas where covering has been lost or a tree has come through, which is the single most important step because an open roof turns one storm into progressive water damage through every subsequent rain. Where a building has lost power, temporary power keeps drying equipment and essential systems running. This work is documented as it happens, because it becomes part of the claim.
Water arrives with wind
Nearly every significant storm loss is also a water loss. Wind-driven rain enters through compromised roofing and siding, and it travels through the assembly the same way a plumbing failure does, so extraction and structural drying start alongside the securing work rather than after it. Water that entered through a damaged roof and water that rose from the ground outside are treated very differently by insurers, so documenting the path water took matters.
Stage two: assessment and rebuild
Once the property is stable, the full scope becomes visible: roof structure and covering, sheathing, windows, siding, framing, insulation, interior finishes, and any systems that took water. We document all of it with photographs and an itemized scope, coordinate directly with the adjuster, and then rebuild. As a licensed general contractor, that rebuild is the same team, which matters after a widespread storm when a separate contractor may be weeks out.
What happens after a regional storm
When a storm hits the whole county at once, every restoration company in the area is dispatching simultaneously. That is the honest reality of severe weather, and our response target reflects normal conditions rather than a regional event. What we can commit to is answering the phone, telling you truthfully where you are in the queue, and prioritizing by severity rather than by who called with the biggest job.
